Everybody to Kenmure Street

Inspiring, award-winning documentary exploring one of the most spontaneous and successful acts of civil resistance in recent memory. In May 2021, a UK Home Office raid in one of Glasgow’s most diverse neighbourhoods triggered an immediate response from hundreds of residents who rushed to the streets to stop the deportation of their neighbours. Followed by a Q&A with the film’s director, Felipe Bustos Sierra.

Join the Portland Global Friendship Group for an informal talk exploring Bibby Boys, a photographic exhibition by Theo McInnes and Thomas Ralph documenting the experiences of the men aboard the Bibby Stockholm barge and the community that formed around them. Looking beyond headlines and political rhetoric, the work captures themes of waiting, friendship, resilience, and solidarity, offering space for conversation, reflection, and connection. Ticket includes a delicious vegetarian lunch of Pakistani dahl and rice to enjoy during the talk

Orchestra from Everywhere

The Orchestra from Everywhere returns to ARK with a powerful evening of music, connection, and global storytelling from an extraordinary ensemble of professional musicians (from Tunisia, Iran, Ukraine, Hong Kong, Palestine, Brazil, and across Africa, and India), who have made Britain their home. Through a rich blend of traditional sounds and original compositions, the orchestra weaves together the musical languages of diverse cultures, creating something entirely new in the process.

Cookbook launch

Join us for a delicious lunch and the launch of Cooking and Conversations - a selection of recipes from around the globe that document the cultures and favourite tastes of our friends at ARK’s Conversation Club. Tickets include a copy of Cooking and Conversations and a vegetarian lunch prepared by Naveed Ahmed. At 12pm members of the Conversation Club will share a short introduction about the making of the book and their favourite recipes. Naveed's famous hot chai will be served throughout. Set lunch menu served in one dish Vegetable Pulao A fragrant and mildly spiced rice dish cooked with fresh vegetables, aromatic whole spices, and basmati rice. A comforting one-pot meal full of flavor Chana Daal Hearty Chana Daal (split Chickpeas Lentil) cooked with aromatic South Asian spices and finished with a flavorful traditional tarka for original desi-style flavours. Served with naan bread.

Flotsam Orchestra

The Flotsam Orchestra is a unique musical collaboration formed organically through Flotsam Sessions, bringing together talented musicians from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and musical traditions. From Nepal to Finland, Tunisia to Brazil, the orchestra weaves together sounds and stories from many cultures, creating a powerful and uplifting celebration of unity and diversity. The afternoon starts with music from Moa Papillon (West African Kora) and Stuart Ironside (Classical Guitar).

Anastasia Tory is a multidisciplinary artist and ceramicist working in the field of mixed media. Courage is an immersive installation deeply shaped by the personal experience of migration.

A free walking event in Canterbury led by Refugee Tales, raising awareness of indefinite detention in the UK.

Flotsam sessions
